====================
Wed 03 Oct 2018 10:22:10 PM EDT

We opened this evening circa 8pm by observing Saturn. A first group arrived,
and enjoyed good seeing with the low-magnification lens. A young girl,
viewing
Saturn for the first time, gasped in awe. It was a great reminder me of why
we
do this!

We moved on to Mars, cue-ing for the group of attendees involved with the
"Lego
League". There were many questions about human exploration of the solar
system,
in line with their theme for the year.

We then attempted M11, however it had set behind the math building.

Instead, for an open cluster, we observed NGC 869 -- the double cluster.

This was all we got to for the evening. Over the course of the night, we had
perhaps somewhere between 60 and 90 people in attendance.

Many were in attendance as parts of smaller groups. A few from the lego
league,
a few from Prof. Ostriker's class. We split the attendees into ~4 groups
total,
and toured the full building while rotating through the dome.

We closed around 10pm.

Observers:
Erin Kado-Fong, Atirath Dhara, Zack Li, Patrick Crumley, Luke Bouma
